Being that it is the day before Thanksgiving, I thought I would write a post about what all I am thankful for. My disclaimer is this: There is no way possible I will ever be able to mention everything that I am truly thankful for in my life, these are just the ones that come to my mind right now as I am typing. I hope this list allows you to think of things you are thankful for today, and maybe you'll try and make your own.
My Wife: Men, listen to me. There is nothing in the world better than being married. And on top of that, to a Godly woman. And on top of that, being married to Katie Jean Gaston. With a wonderful wife like mine, how could I not be thankful. If you are out there and you're in dating relationships and you know that person is not someone you would want to spend the rest of your life with...GET OUT NOW!!! I couldn't imagine spending my life with anyone else but her.
My Ministry Partners: These are the people that work side by side with me in the ministry here at Wrightsville Beach Baptist Church and when I go speak places. I have a group of volunteers here with the Student Ministry that care about our students personally and want to see them grow as believers. There are those out there who believe in my calling and support me and encourage me to pursue what God has called me to, which is to preach the Gospel among all people. I absolutely love being able to serve in Student Ministry with these people both here at Wrightsville Beach Baptist, Apex Baptist, and all the church and college ministries that afford me the opportunity to come and speak to your students. Not to forget all of the parents of our students who constantly support our ministry in prayer and planning. I LOVE YOU ALL.
My Huntin Buddies: Now for some of you, you are laughin out loud right now thinking "Why in the world would he be thankful for that?" Growing up, spending time in the woods with my father was one of the things that I enjoyed more than anything. I learned more about God's creation, father son relationships, and being a good steward of what has been given to us while I was hunting than I have any other place. When I moved to Wilmington, I didn't think I would have the opportunity to get in the woods because if you look around....it's all buildings! But God has blessed me with the friendships of people who have the same passion as I do, and I love to go hunting with these guys. If you have never been on a hunt, give me a call, I'd love to take you!
Those working in the Mission Field: Everyday I lift them up in prayer. I am so thankful that they heard the call of God to "Go unto all nations and PREACH!" The church is so grateful for their hard work, sacrifice of time away from families, and their willingness to step into a foreign culture and live among a people group who know nothing about Christ. You are truly the front line soldiers for the Gospel, and I am so thankful for you and your families.
I hope you all decide to come up with a list of your own. Have a great Thanksgiving. Eat lots of Turkey, sweet potatoes, green beans, and pumpkin pie. Fellas, enjoy the football!
