The Cost of Leadership

As a leader in a local church, it is my obligation to daily assess what is taking place in our congregation and in our community. A recent trend has shown that some 90% of churches in America are either stagnant or declining, and this trend is seen in full fruition on each Sunday in churches all across our region. How does a church suceed? If you answerd "Well of course, it has to be of God!" than you answered partially correct. Of course we understand that we can not do things on our own, it must be God ordained. At the very same time, it takes someone to lead this brigade. It takes someone who is willing to do whatever it takes to reach people for Christ and who are completely and madly in love with Jesus. It takes a Pastor who is willing to step up to the plate and LEAD. Leadership comes with a cost.

Crisis demands leadership.
If my family is in trouble, it is my job to provide direction. If my church is in trouble, it is my obligation to provide strong and stable leadership, not running and hiding. I love this quote from "The Next Generation Leader" by Andy Stanley:

"Only those leaders who act boldly in times of crisis and change are willingly followed."
-Jim Kouzes

Nobody would have followed William Wallace if he had not stepped up to the plate in times of crisis and change for Scotland. "Every revolution started with one act of defiance." I want to be a revolutionary for the Gospel. I want to act in defiance to the things of the world and be a leader for Jesus the Messiah.

If you are desiring to go into the ministry, run a company, or even become the head of a household, it's time to step up to the plate. It's time to lead. God desires people who are committed to seeing Him become famous in our world today, and that doesn't happen with men and women who are sitting on the sidelines and not Engaging in life.
