A typical response to "Church on Mission" may often look like this:

Kenya...been there.
China...been there.
Indonesia...ARE YOU CRAZY!??
India...done it.
Appalachain Mountains...yep.
Downtown Ministry with the poor...of COURSE!
Local Middle and High School Campuses...HUH?!?!?!?

Wait a second Jason, did you just say that we have a missional responsibility to our local campuses? Absolutely. Not even a question. We often forfeit the opportunity to reach our students by suggesting that true ministry takes place on Sunday's and Wednesday's, oh yeah, and the every once in a while "I'll go to an athletic event." I want to suggest something bigger. I want to suggest something that the entire church will take up and say "THIS IS OUR MISSION." The best thing is that this mission does not require a visa, typhoid shots, malaria pills, or passports. It doesn't even require long distance travel.

We often speak of saturating our communities with the gospel, but struggle with ways to do so. I suggest that there is no greater way than to "saturate" your local Middle and High School Campuses. The best thing is that the entire church can do it. Here's how.

Intentional Prayer: Pray walk the campuses 1 time a month, and commit to praying for them every day. God breaks down those strongholds, not us. God is at the heart of every movement, not us. So why not ASK Him to do so for our local schools. This would include praying for the staff, the administration, the teachers, the students, etc...

Intentional Action: Local schools are STARVING for people to invest their time into their campuses. Mentors for students, volunteers in the office, working concession stands, etc... The list goes on and on.

Folks, the need is great but the response is limited. I think Jesus summed it up when he said "The Harvest is plentiful but the workers are few."

Let's invest in our local campuses. Let's invest in the lives of our students and the administration. Let's reach our community for the Gospel.
